Practical Tips and Demonstrations. This year’s morning session will consist of short presentations, quick tips, and demos that will help you get ready for and to excel in Voir Dire, Motion Hearings and Trials. Whether you are a beginner or a master of the craft you will learn techniques you can use.
Trial Skills Workshop. After lunch we will divide into break-out groups to work on courtroom skills incorporating some of the things learned in the above presentations. Some groups will focus on learning the basic skills and other, more experienced groups, will focus on honing those skills and will be exposed to new ideas for taking it to a higher level. The groups will be small and based upon experience and training levels, which you will “self-select.” Groups will range from groups made up of relatively new lawyers and at least one group of highly experienced lawyers, with groups with experience levels in between.
Don’t Do Much DUI Defense? Featured speaker and Lead Trial Skills Instructor Rafe Foreman is not a DUI lawyer per se but rather is a Trial Lawyer’s Trial Lawyer; he has handled all varieties of criminal defense cases, plaintiff’s personal injury cases, civil rights cases, employment discrimination cases, and wrongful death cases, as well as excessive force and 1983 actions. Even as a full time Professor he continues to try very serious cases as a part of his unique Honors Advanced Trial Advocacy program.
