Clermont County Public Defender
The Clermont County Public Defender is searching for a full-time attorney to provide direct legal representation to indigent persons in criminal proceedings. The position is expected to be entry-level initially with representation in the Municipal Court1 primarily handling the Magistrate1s docket, although candidates with more experience will be considered.
Experience:
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law.
Must be attorney in good standing1 licensed by the Supreme Court of Ohio to practice law in the State of Ohio.

Work Hours:
80 hours/bi-weekly
Starting Salary:
$65,000.00 annually or more, depending on experience & qualifications.
County benefits include OPERS1 medical1 dental, vision and prescription coverage as well as paid vacation and sick leave.
Job Duties (Summary):
- Zealous, ethical representation of indigent persons charged with criminal offenses.
- Determine legal strategy to be employed at all stages of a case and seek out facts and circumstances surrounding the charges.
- Advise clients on the legal and practical ramifications of the criminal justice system.
- Conduct case reviews, research legal questions and examine the procedures used by police and prosecutors and perform such legal representation as is necessary to ensure that the person's rights are protected.
- Current knowledge of criminal law, court, police and prosecutor procedures and other criminal justice - related information, including significant court decisions.
- Attend meetings and seminars; maintain legal records, and perform other related duties.
