Starting Salary:   $27.88/hr. - $33.65/hr. (dependent upon qualifications/experience)

Status:                Unclassified, Exempt, Full-time, County benefits

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include representation of indigent clients in one or more of the following courts: Common Pleas Court (criminal cases), Municipal Court (criminal and traffic cases), Juvenile Court (delinquency proceedings), and/or Domestic Relations Court (contempt hearings). Qualified applicant must be prepared to take on a significant case load with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Representation of client at all stages of the proceedings from arraignment through sentencing/disposition or other resolution of case and includes, but is not limited to, meeting with and discussing case with client, research, prepare and file pre-trial motions and/or all other pleadings as necessitated by a particular case; and if necessary, representation of client at sentencing/disposition.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws including, but not limited to, criminal law and procedure.
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of social circumstances; ability to speak and write effectively; ability to exercise independent judgment; ability to communicate and work effectively with office personnel, court personnel, prosecutors, law enforcement, probation officers, social workers and general public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and in good standing or sat for most recent Ohio bar exam. If not currently licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio, passing the most recent Ohio bar exam will be a condition of continued employment.
  • A current, valid driver license and safe, reliable personal vehicle available for County business, and vehicle insurance that meets or exceeds the $100,000/$300,000 requirement for the State of Ohio.
